Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) rings on demerger plan

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) rose 0.89% to Rs 28.25 at 10:06 IST on BSE after its board approved spinning off its telecom tower infrastructure division to a separate unit.

The scrip had touched a high of Rs 28.40 and a low of Rs 28.15 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 65 on 4 January 2008 and a 52-week low of Rs 21.10 on 10 April 2007.

The mid-cap telecom services provider has an equity capital of Rs 1893 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) reported net loss of Rs 27.43 crore in Q3 December 2007 as against net loss of Rs 59.17 crore in Q3 December 2006. Sales rose 21.3% to Rs 439.76 crore in Q3 December 2007 over Q3 December 2006.

The Tata group operates mobile services through two companies – the listed Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) and unlisted Tata Teleservices. Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) offers CDMA-based services in the Maharashtra and Mumbai circles, while Tata Teleservices operates in 18 circles.
