HEG board approves Rs 1.9 bn capacity expansion plan

HEG, engaged in the business of graphite electrodes and power announced on Thursday the board approved Rs 1.90 billion capacity expansion of graphite plant from current level of 60,000 TPA to 80,000 TPA at Mandideep.

With this expansion the company will become the worlds largest graphite electrode producer at a single location.

HEG is a diversified company with interests in graphite electrodes and power. The graphite electrode division was set up in technical and financial collaboration with SERS, a subsidiary of Pechiney of France. Part of the LNJ Bhilwara group of industries, the company was incorporated on Oct. 27, 1972.

The company offers graphite electrodes, activated carbon fabric, carbon blocks, and other graphite specialties with application service to clients.

Shares of the company gained Rs 14.1, or 4.77%, to settle at Rs 309.5. The total volume of shares traded was 27,663 at the BSE (Thursday).
